Ohio is committed to providing a skilled, educated workforce to help our state's business community grow and prosper.

The Governor's Workforce Policy Advisory Board was formed to assist Governor Strickland in directing workforce development resources to maximize return on investment and ensure optimal growth in Ohio's workforce economy. The Board regularly assesses Ohio's employment needs, advises the Governor on setting performance goals and priorities to improve the State's workforce development system, and helps leaders who shape workforce development policy at the local level. Guided by the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA), board members represent a range of groups including business and industry, organized labor, state legislature, education, social service agencies and others who have a stake in employment and training issues.

In Ohio, we are meeting the demands of the 21st century by preparing Ohioans with the strong academic skills, technical skills, and knowledge they need to enter a world-class, competitive workforce.

The Governor's Workforce Policy Advisory Board is working to create a demand-driven and business sensitive workforce development program, providing Ohio with the nation's top education and training systems in order to compete in a global economy.
